Overview
An intuitive and comprehensive system-wide searching function is accessible via the Quick Search bar located in the top right-hand side of the main application window.
The search function allows you to search across leads, matters, contacts, events, tasks, memos and documents via the one tool.

Conducting a search
To initiate a search:
- Click into the Quick Search bar.
- Enter your search term. Note that search term can be relatively broad if desired. For example, if searching for a contact, your search term could be a contact's last name, suburb, email address, phone number or any part thereof. If searching for a matter, your search term could be a matter number, matter description, or contact name or part thereof.
- Search results will initially be presented in a simplified view with the most relevant results presented and sorted by category. If the item you are searching for is located within the display, it can be accessed by clicking on it.
The simplified view will not display results for memos and documents - these search results are only accessible via the Advanced Search. When results are displayed in the simplified view, only the five most relevant results in each of the other categories (where relevant results exist for that category) will be displayed. Where more than five results exist in any category, the total number of available results will be displayed next to the category heading as shown in the example below.
Advanced Search view
To access the Advanced Search view:
- Click into the Quick Search bar in the main application view.
- Click on the "Advanced Search" link. The Advanced Search view can be opened either before or after entering in your search term.
Filtering and sorting search results
The "Advanced Search" link opens the Search navigation tab. You are then able to filter the search results according to the relevant category (for example, matters).
You can also go to the Search tab directly and enter the search results as per above.
When looking for documents or document contents across all matters, the Search tab allows for further, document-specific options when you:
- Enter the search term and press "Search".
- Click the Documents tab.
- Select from the advanced filters and click "Update".
Whether you are using the Quick Search or the Advanced Search/Search navigation, you are able to enter more than one term and combinations of words that are not next to each other.
Searching within a single matter
Entering a search term into the search bar in documents section of a matter will provide the available results.
You can filter the results further by selecting the relevant tab (eg Documents, Emails, etc), or ticking the "Search by name" or "Search by contents" buttons.
To close the search, you will need to click on the X in the search bar (highlighted).
The document-search option within a matter is only limited to producing results of documents saved in that particular matter.
Matter based searches can only search for words that are next to each other, or exact wording.
