Bank File Import

Overview

Bank statement transactions can be imported from a file for reconciliation from the Bank Entries screen. When importing bank transactions, you have the option to match the transaction to an existing record, whilst identifying entries that have not yet been identified in the system.

Importing a bank file 

1. Select the Accountant Dashboard from the My Dashboards drop down list. 



2. Select the account to be reconciled, either under Office Cash Accounts or the Trust/Client Cash Accounts.



3. From the Account Actions menu, select Reconciliation



4. On the reconciliation screen, select the Unallocated button. 



5. Open the drop down menu under Actions, select Import Bank Entries



6. Under Select a file type to upload, select the relevant bank and file type option. 



7. Drag and drop the bank file into the drag a file to upload area. 



8. Click Upload. 



9. Returning to the Bank Entries screen, the imported transactions will be listed. 


 

Proposals


Once transactions have been imported to Bank Entries, a corresponding proposal will be populated on the transaction line. 


A proposal is the matching of an imported bank entry to a similar existing transaction in the system. 



1. To accept the proposal, select Accept button at the end of the transaction line. 



Once accepted, the imported bank entry will be removed from Bank Entries and the accepted proposal will be ticked for reconciliation under Cashbook Entries. 


2. To change the proposal, select the ellipses at the end of the transaction line and choose Change Proposal from the drop down list. 



 

Editing an imported bank entry


1. To edit an imported bank entry, select the ellipses at the end of the transaction line and choose Edit Entry



2. Make amendments to the bank entry, change the date (if required). 



3. Change the Bank Reference (if required). 



4. Update the memo (if required). 



5. Adjust the amount (if required). 



6. Select Save to update the bank entry. Select Save and New to update the bank and open a new Bank Entry Details screen. 



7. To delete an imported bank entry, select the ellipses at the end of the transaction line and choose Delete Entry. 


 


Creating a new transaction for an imported bank entry 


1. Where a proposal could not be matched to an imported bank entry, the proposal column will state No Matching/skipped



2. Click on the ellipses at the end of the transaction line and select Post New.



3.  Depending on the type of transaction, the receipt or payment details screen will appear. 



 

4. Select Accept on the updated Bank Entries transaction. 



5. The new transaction line will now appear under the Cashbook Entries to be reconciled.
